Curriculum Vitae Roel en Eduard van Wijk
Dr. Roel van Wijk PhD
Roeland Van Wijk (1942) studied biology and specialized in biophysical chemistry. He lectured and had a research group in molecular cell biology and integrative biophysics at the Utrecht University till his retirement. He was also scientific director of a research group on complementary and alternative medicine at this university. Presently, he is director of a leading centre of human biophoton research (Meluna Research) which is open for (university) research programs.
After studying psychology at Nijmegen University, Eduard completed his Ph.D. research at the Nijmegen Institute for Cognition and Information (NICI) on the "Influence of External and Internal (physiology) Context on Learning Behavior", where his fascination for Mind-Body interactions also began. He started this quest as a researcher at the International Institute of Biophysics, Neuss (Germany), where he developed biophotonic methods and signal analysis procedures for detecting physiologic free radical production utilizing low-level luminescence in relation to health, lifestyle, and meditation. In 2009, Eduard joined Leiden University (The Netherlands) and is currently creating a combined utilization of low-level luminescence and metabolomics for novel diagnostic tools to optimize personal health conditions. Since 2009, Eduard is also a research fellow in the Brain, Mind, and Healing Program at the Samueli Institute, USA. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of the Hogeschool voor Geesteswetenschappen (College for Spiritual and Healing Sciences), editorial board of the Dutch Journal of Integrative Medicine. He lectures at the Bachelor Education for Spiritual Sciences (College for Spiritual and Healing Sciences) as well as the Summer School of the International Institute of Biophysics.
